So I’ve been playing around with WP for a couple weeks now.
I only ever looked for plugins when I had a problem with the way something worked, so most of them will fix little things like character replacement and what not.
WP Page Numbers – Show pages numbers instead of “Next page” and “Previous Page”.

Relevant Search – Relevant Search will provide contextual search and listing the results based on relevance. It automatically replaces the default WordPress search.

Google XML Sitemaps – This plugin will generate a special XML sitemap which will help search engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing and Ask.com to better index your blog.
Frontpage category filter – This plugin allows you to choose which post categories you site will show on the homepage. Just go to settings and deselect the categories that you want to hide.
This one is good if you have an adult section.
Fast Secure Contact Form – Fast Secure Contact Form for WordPress. The contact form lets your visitors send you a quick E-mail message. WP-Optimize – This plugin helps you to keep your database clean by removing post revisions and spams in a blaze. allows you to rename your admin name also. Additionally it allows you to run optimize command on your wordpress core tables (use with caution).
WP Security Scan – Perform security scan of WordPress installation.
Strictly Auto Tags – This plugin automatically detects tags to place against posts using existing tags as well as a simple formula that detects common tag formats such as Acronyms, names and countries. Whereas other smart tag plugins only detect a single occurance of a tag within a post this plugin will search for the most used tags within the content so that only the most relevant tags get added.
